Actually, the vast majority of people have very little awareness of what they say in a day, and even less awareness of how their verbiage affects them.

When you think a thought and then give voice to it, there are corresponding emotions that result. Those feelings actually create a physiological response in the body that is experienced as energy. Consequently, we emit energy that is felt not only by us, but by everyone around us. That energy you put out, by the way, attracts it’s likeness. Knowing this, it should frighten you to consider how damaging all of those negative thoughts and words you entertain, are to the life you create. Positive thinking can actually CREATE the positive life you desire. What you think about, comes about, good and bad…so if you are always whining about being broke or saying things like ‘nothing ever changes’ or ‘it works for everyone else but me’ …you are all but guaranteeing you stay stuck exactly where you are. Moreover, the successful and happy people around you are directly impacted by that negative energy and are less likely to want to be in your presence. Negativity breeds more negativity. Period.

CHANGE YOUR THINKING…

On the flip side, positivity attracts positivity. If you change your thinking, you absolutely can create a life of total abundance and prosperity in every way. This is accomplished by guarding your thoughts like they hold the Holy Grail and by being hyper conscious of the words you speak. Once you truly understand and embrace how the law of attraction works, it will start to feel like you’re cheating lol! I have been sharing a training like this, off and on for some time, but truth be told, I had 6 words that I discouraged. Recently, I took part in a great training by two of my fave mentors, John and Nadya Melton. They spoke of eight destructive words, and I took note of the two extras they mentioned. You know what? I agree with them 100% and in response, I’ve added those two to my list as well.

 

SUCCESS TIPS: 8 Really Destructive Words You need To Stop Using, If You Truly Want to Succeed

 

1- OVERWHELM

How often are you saying this one? “Oh…I’m so overwhelmed!” Honestly, overwhelm is usually a reaction you’re having to lack of productivity and action. What do I mean by that? When you feel overwhelmed, there is typically something you feel you should be doing or accomplishing, that you’re not. That fact, leads to a sense of things getting away on you that you need to run to catch up to. Feeling overwhelm is a decision and you’ll keep yourself there, if you continue to tell yourself you’re suffering it.

2- FRUSTRATED

We live in a culture where people tend to be chronically frustrated lol! Every little obstacle seems to lead people to just throw their arms up in frustration and resignation. 

Our brains are essentially the power centres of the body…the big computer than runs things. It doesn’t understand the little nuances that separate fact from your opinion and it certainly isn’t driven to decode your moods or sarcasm lol. It believes what you tell it and sets out to find proof to validate that fact. In other words…your brain is a problem solver not a therapist. If you use verbiage like frustrated, your brain looks for ways to prove that you are in fact, frustrated. Ultimately, that just keeps you stuck there. Instead, change your thinking. Say things like, “I’m grateful to be learning a new skill and I’m certain to master it with a little more practice.”

3- CONFUSED

Here’s another one that gets thrown around all the time. Much like frustrated, people default to this word and sentiment without even realizing it. When presented with information that is new or not yet understood, realize that all that stands between you and clarity is a bit of time. No need to fall into confusion and even less reason to utter the word. Don’t say you’re confused unless you want to keep yourself there. Positive thinking about the event, leads to more empowering verbiage. Consequently, your will have far better results.

4- EXHAUSTED

I’ve been very guilty of saying this one quite a bit. It definitely carries a negative connotation and I am banishing this word from my vocabulary going forward. How on earth do you expect to have any energy and vitality at all, when you use this type of life-sucking verbiage? In reality, many of us use this word as a way of expressing that we don’t like how much time we are spending doing things we aren’t super passionate about. Few of us are actually exhausted. Incidentally, if you are medically exhausted, by all means, go have that addressed. Otherwise, as John Melton says; “I wanna wind up in heaven one day, exhausted…not well rested!” lol

5- BROKE

Oh man…THIS one is sooooo destructive. My goodness, with the number of people I hear constantly saying, “I’m broke” or ‘We can’t afford it”…”We don’t have the money for that..” and so on..is it any wonder that people have chronic money problems?!!? Parents say this stuff to their kids all the time. We grow up with a focus on lack, being at the forefront of our lives. If you keep saying you’re broke..you’re going to stay that way! I’m certain that’s not what you want, right?

REMEMBER….

Remember, your brain is a natural problem solver so give it something to solve! Instead of making factual statements centred in lack, say something like, “How can I make this possible?” or “What steps can I take to make this happen?” Doing something so simple, puts your brain into problem solving mode and it sets about finding the answers you seek.

Isn’t that so much more productive? In addition to that beautiful success tip, consider the positive energy you will emit because you’ve empowered yourself instead of choosing defeat. That success attracts more success and on it goes. Pretty cool, right?

The truth is, if something is a priority you can find a way to make it happen..you know that’s true. If it’s not a priority, than simply say “that’s not my priority right now..I’m going to back-burner it.’ That’s a heck of lot more empowering than “Oh..I can’t..I’m broke.” Make sense?

6- STRESSED

“I’m sooooo stressed!”…ever say that? I bet you have…I know I used to. Stop saying it now. Feeling anxious or stressed is usually because you have a lot of balls in the air and you are worrying about how it’s all going to turn out. That mindset will keep you stressed. Focus on what’s important and outsource or minimize what’s not. You would do well, divorcing yourself from the outcomes you are clinging to, also. If you have massive expectations all the time, and little gratitude…you will continue to experience undue stress. If you speak words of gratitude, and remove the word stressed from your vocabulary, you will emit a much more positive energy that in turn, will attract more abundance and peace into your life. Positive thinking is the foundation for a positive life.

7- CAN’T

I hate this word, actually. It’s a very weak thing to say and positions you as such. Uttering negative words like this will physiologically make you weaker.

I’m always telling my children to eliminate this one from their lives. You CAN do anything you set your mind to. When you say “I can’t”, you are shutting down the brain’s problem solving efforts, in one fell swoop. It believes you when you say you can’t so why on earth would it bother trying to prove you can? It won’t. On the contrary, it will seek to attract everything that proves you were right when you said it. NOT what you really want. Stop saying you can’t and say “How can I?” instead. That way, you are asking your brain to find the answer …and it will. You will attract it.

On the other hand, if the truth is, you just don’t want to …than say so. That’s far more productive and constructive than saying you can’t.

8- TRY

Oh boy….this one is a doozy too! When you say “I’ll try”, you are simply giving yourself a way out. You are paving the way to totally cop-out on yourself. If you create an exit strategy…you WILL take it! Stop saying you’ll try. There is no ‘try’…only ‘do’ or ‘don’t do’. What do you think it means when your prospect tells you that they’ll ‘…try to make it.’ ??? It means they’re NOT COMING lol! Right? Eliminate the word try from your vocabulary and you’ll be much better off.
