Do you find it challenging to actually reach the goals you are setting for yourself, to achieve some online success in your business? Are you always falling short and wondering why on earth the real results are so darned elusive? I’ve been there. In fact, I went through a really long period when I struggled with staying consistent. I found it tough to even maintain the basic tasks that drive the success train, in the first place! Not good. So if you’re relating to any of this..seek comfort in knowing that you are definitely NOT alone.

5 CRITICAL STEPS TO ONLINE SUCCESS


I’m going to share with you how to properly set goals so you actually reach them and have some real online success. In actuality, there are 5 critical steps you should follow if you want to be successful in tackling those goals. In my experience, most network marketers and online marketers fall short in at least one, and often in several, of these critical steps.

As such…it’s important that you ‘pay attench’, as Ray Higdon would say:)

ONLINE SUCCESS STARTS WITH SETTING S.M.A.R.T. GOALS


So what are these 5 critical steps to online success? They are as follows.

Step 1: SET  S.M.A.R.T.  GOALS

As you can see by how it’s spelled, SMART GOALS, is an acronym for something far more meaningful than the word implies. Each letter stands for a piece of the goal-setting puzzle. It looks like this…

S. -SPECIFIC

M. -MEASURABLE

A. -ATTAINABLE

R. -REALISTIC

T. -TIMELY

Let’s break that down…

SMART GOALS: ‘SPECIFIC’

In order to achieve online success, it’s important to set S.M.A.R.T. goals. Typically, when we set goals we approach the task with too much vagueness. In fact, we often say things like ‘I want to make more money’, ‘I want a bigger house with a better yard’, ‘I want to take more trips’, and so on. Do you notice how this type of verbiage is sorely lacking in specificity? “I want…’ in general terms does not indicate a real, defined goal of any kind. Truly, it is just a wish.

You cannot be this vague and expect to hit your target.You have to be specific. It is that specificity that makes the difference between a random dream statement and an actual intention.

When you set the goal, you should say “I will achieve ‘X’ (the goal) by ‘Y’ (the actual date). To ensure that you hit your target and achieve some of that elusive online success ..make sure that you’ve set an actual S.M.A.R.T goal and not just a vague wish.

 

SMART GOALS: ‘MEASURABLE’


Make sure the goal is measurable also. You cannot improve upon something if you don’t know how you’re actually doing. In order to control your results, you have to be able to track them and they have to be easily measured.

For example, you may measure the number of phone calls you make, amount of prospects you get on a presentation or number of leads you derive. The daily tasks you perform should be precise and trackable. That will make online success so much more likely.

 

SMART GOALS: ‘ATTAINABLE’

Make sure that you are setting goals that truly make sense for you, and your specific business. Focus on pushing yourself a little bit but also make sure that you will be able to stay committed to the daily tasks and that they will fit within the context of your life, currently.

 

SMART GOALS: ‘REALISTIC’

This one is REALLY important. Don’t set a goal to reach a million dollars by Friday. Be sure that whatever the goal is..you actually have a hope in heck of achieving it. If your goal is not realistic for YOU, you will just set yourself up for failure and if won’t be pretty! Be realistic about what is possible during the given time frame.

 

SMART GOALS: ‘TIMELY’

It’s vitally important to date stamp that goal, baby! Attach a very specific time frame to the goal you are setting. To illustrate, you might say ‘I will achieve the rank of Diamond Distributor, by January 30th of 2017′. Yes…I AM serious. If you don’t set a timely goal…you’ll just carry it on forever, waiting for everything to be perfect.

Step 2: REVERSE ENGINEER YOUR SUCCESS

Start with the end goal in mind, and work your way back to the front. I learned this strategy from the amazing, Tanya Aliza. You’d be surprised how much easier it is to figure things out, when you are super clear on your objective and how you will accomplish it.

Say for example, you’ve decided that you want to attract 10 new customers in the next 30 days. You will locate day 30 on your calendar and mark 10 new customers. Now go to the middle mark, day 15 and mark down, ‘5 new customers’. Now go to the 3 week mark, and the 1 week mark and right down what number you will have to achieve by THAT day, in order to hit your target.  The same will hold true of an income goal. You will have to determine, precisely how much you’d have to bring in, each week and each day, in order to stay on track. Additionally, you must determine precisely, what tasks ….and how many of them…you must complete every day…to get that job done. How many customers will you have to get, how many sales, how many new reps…an so on. DO THE MATH! Pretty cool, right?

This is simple…write it all down…everything…all of it. Get a calendar and schedule in, all the tasks you will need to accomplish each and every day in order to stay on track, to reach your online success goals. If you don’t schedule it in, things will crop up…life will get in the way and excuses will follow.

I learned a concept called ‘time blocking’ from an amazing online marketer, named Kate McShea. She teaches to actually determine what blocks you have in your day that you can dedicate to working your business, uninterrupted. Ultimately, The size of those blocks is less important than the act of firmly scheduling them in. You can actually accomplish a great deal in a short period of time, if you are focused, determined and distraction free, during your time blocks.

Step 4: GET AN ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER

This is actually a step that is very often overlooked as being unnecessary when in fact, it is extremely powerful. Those who have an accountability partner, dramatically increase their odds of online success. Often times, it will also increase the speed of results, as well.

If you have someone, that you have to show up and be accountable to, it’s much more likely that you’ll stay committed to getting your tasks completed. No one likes to admit to someone, that they didn’t honour their own word. Accountability partners keep you honest lol!

Step 5: JUST DO IT!

Just do the work that needs doing.

Divorce yourself from the outcomes and stay focused and committed to the income-producing activities that will lead to online success. It’s ok to fall short of your daily goals, here and there, because ebbs and flows in your results will be natural and ultimately, it all comes out in the wash. You  will be much more likely to reach the goal if you do the daily work, consistently. Focus on that. Being overly concerned about specific results can harm your mindset, push you into frustration and damage your overall results. Don’t fall victim to this craziness. Marry the activity and divorce the outcome. You’ll get there!

There you have it! My 5 critical steps to help you set goals that you can actually reach. None of the steps is particularly difficult, but in tandem, they are super powerful. Follow them consistently and I have no doubt that you’ll be knocking those goals right out of the park!
