Are you doing your network marketing online and find you have a lot of prospects going into the witness protection program lol?!!? All kidding aside, are you feeling unsure of how to handle prospects who constantly leave you hanging? Maybe you have people who promised to watch your company video, become a customer or join your team….and then they just totally flaked out on ya. The truth is, that’s super common. In actual fact, it’s happened to me many times and I know how icky it can make you feel. Moreover, you may be at a loss for what to do next, especially if you’ve let a lot of time pass without addressing the issue. I’ve got a super effective follow-up strategy that will help out of this pickle from now on.

Network Marketing online: How To Have a Super Effective Follow-up With Prospects Who Leave you Hanging.

 

This follow-up strategy is a hybrid version I created, from one I originally learned from Ray Higdon. I LOVE his way of handling this scenario, however, a little tweaking made it more ‘me’. Incidentally, you should take this follow-up script and do whatever you need to, to make it your own. Ideally, when network marketing online, you should never use any script verbatim, regardless of who authored it and what it’s for. Following a script word-for-word will end up sounding wooden, rehearsed and just plain weird. What’s worse, your prospect will feel it as well. Nothing says amateur more, than reading or writing from a script!

Network Marketing online: The Script To Follow To Get Results!

 

The follow-up strategy I’m about to share with you will quickly position you as a person of posture, power and influence, regardless of how long you’ve let the conversation with your prospect hanging. Even if you should have followed-up again months ago, this strategy still works like a charm!

 

One of the biggest mistakes people tend to make when network marketing online, is they approach prospects from a position of weakness. Because they didn’t have to invest their first-born to get their business off the ground, network marketers often treat their businesses as nothing more than hobbies. If you treat your business that way, so will your prospects!

In fact, this issue alone can be responsible for a lot of the challenges marketers have, in getting prospects to follow through. You have to teach people how to treat you. Simply speaking, you should behave as though you have a million dollar business, even if you don’t as yet. If you carry yourself like a postured professional who commands respect…..you’ll get it. Prospects will almost magically cease walking all over you. Doesn’t that sound great?

What’s Next…

Now that we’ve gone over the ground rules … let’s look at how to best handle these disappearing prospects, shall we? This strategy will work on any social media platform. I’ve used it in texting and on Facebook Messenger, and it even works brilliantly as a voicemail message.

 

Let’s assume, for the sake of our example, that you’ve been corresponding by text. Your prospect has repeatedly said that they would watch your company video but still has not done so. Possibly, you’ve followed up a few times and still have had no results. Here is the script to follow when crafting the message you will send.

COLD MARKETILLUSTRATION OF AN IGLOO

 

“Hey there, I was just following up on my messages… and realized we hadn’t communicated in a long while. In our last conversation you mentioned that you were planning to watch the video and get back with me. You didn’t do that… totally cool. Not a problem. I’m just going to have to assume that it’s not a fit for you and I’m going to scratch you off of my list. I won’t be contacting you about this any further but I wish you all the best that life has to offer. It’s been awesome connecting with you here.” 
 
If you are messaging someone in your warm market, the script is essentially the same. You may just want to make it a little more personal and informal. Include a little anecdote that is specific to them, for example. Doing so will come across as much more natural. Try something like this;
 
 
WARM MARKET
 

“Hey (Melissa) just checking on a bunch of my unanswered messages here and finalizing some conversations. I realized that we haven’t chatted in a while. Last time we spoke, you mentioned that you were going to check out my company video and get back to me. I never heard back which is totally fine. Not a problem.. but listen, I do have a lot of people reaching out who are quite serious about this so I do need to prioritize my time.

I need to focus on them so I’m going to cross you off of my list. Clearly this is not a fit for you, which is totally cool. I’ve enjoyed sharing a bit about what I’m up to but I won’t be bringing this up with you again. So next time we get together, my business won’t be on the table for discussion and we can just catch up properly. (Insert a personal anecdote or super quick story here)…I’d love to hear about your trip to Europe…I saw the pics on Facebook and it looked epic. Let’s get together soon.”

   

Network Marketing Online: Super Simple and Very Effective

 
That’s it! This is a super simple but very effective strategy because it allows you to take the power back from your prospect. So many network marketers online and off, come across as needy and desperate…almost begging their prospect to follow through. What do you think happens when you chase something? It runs away from you, right?!!? Unfortunately, the same is true of your prospects. That’s just human nature.
 
With this technique, you are presenting yourself in a way that your prospect is not likely expecting. They are used to network marketers who beg, cajole, bug and annoy. Typically, they are not expecting the total posture and professionalism you’re bringing with this script. Specifically, in the case of the warm market scenario, you will see your prospects’ whole demeanour shift. Suddenly, they will unceremoniously exit the witness protection program and become quite chit-chatty lol! That script takes all of the pressure off of them to do anything and they will immediately feel relieved.

Many times, when it comes to our friends and family, they want to say ‘no’ to us but are afraid that it will hurt our feelings. So, instead of being upfront with us, they become all passive-aggressive and just completely avoid us altogether. Clearly, that is not what we want from our loved ones. Use the script as a guide and you’ll be golden!
   
 
This follow-up strategy is actually quite magical! You’ll see what I mean as soon as you start using it. The minute you take the product/service or opportunity off the table as an option, your prospect, as though by some magic spell, suddenly isn’t so sure they don’t want it. The sheer act of taking it away from them, makes them really second guess their decision to avoid the whole thing lol! It’s classic fear of loss. So don’t be surprised when your prospect suddenly messages back, apologizing for the delay and wanting to see more information. It happens all the time.
 
   
 

Anything Could Happen…

As for you warm market danglers, amazing things could happen. If anything changes in their lives, that makes them more open to what you are offering, they’ll reach out to you. Because you handle yourself with such professionalism, they’ll immediately think of you when the time comes.
